Azillanet is
a delightful village in the Minervoix wine-growing region, some 30
minutes driving-time from the old walled city of Carcassonne and
equally from the once Roman city of Narbonne on the Mediterraneen
coast. It is about 3 miles from the fortified citadelle of Minerve (an
almost impregnable mini-version of Carcassonne, surrounded by gorges)
and 6 miles from the Canal du Midi. It makes an excellent base from
which to tour the vineyards and coastal plain of the Mediterranean, and
further afield, the Montagne Noire, the Parc Regional du Haut Languedoc
and the Cevennes.
Azillanet, with a population of about 500, is a very pretty village of
stone built houses interspersed by many trees and large fertile
vegetable gardens. It is a pleasure to roam its rambling lanes where
there is a surprise around every conner --pots of flowers, stream-beds,
washing-troughs, an old wine-press, and patches of vines. There are
wine 'caves' where you can taste the local wine! The houses are not far
from the old church in the center of the village.

with double bed (140cm) and landing giving on to roof terrace and
second bathroom (shower, hand-basins and w.c.) The terrace has the
views across the tiled roafs.

on to a countryard space equipped for outdoor dining and barbecue.

floor : Two double-bedrooms (140 cm) one of which contains an
extra single bed(90cm), bathroom (shower, hand-basins and w.c.)

The
houses are fine stone-built dwellings
which the owners have modernised while keeping the best traditionnal
features - exposed timbers, antique tiled floors, handsome fire-places
and staircases, naturel stone-walls. All interior equipment and
finishing has been done to a high standard, particularly in the
kitchens and bathrooms. Each kitchens has hot-plates, oven, microwave,
washing machine and dish washer, fridge-freezer and full range of
culinary equipement. Bedroms are confortably finished with attrative
beds with modern mattresses and bedding. Both houses have WIFI
connections for fast Internet use.
The
swimming pool , for the exclusive use of the tenants of
these two gites and one other gite, is some two hundred yards walk from
the house.

exchange-rate changes.

When we
have agreed availability we will ask you to send us an ordinary British
bank cheque (or agreed alternative) for one-quarter of the total rent;
on receipt of that we write to confirm the reservation with advice on
further payment (We simply ask you to send another cheque for the rest
2 months before the holiday).
The rents quoted here include all services, bedding, house towels and
fuel.
