The cottage is a converted 'bergerie'
(sheep-barn)in the grounds of a chateau -farm, surrounded by rolling
farmland and sheltered by magnificent umbrella-pines,
cypress & other trees which create an attractive
Mediterranean-type setting -- a setting made even more pleasant by
glimpses of the chateau some fifty yards behind the trees (see picuture
on the right). It is very near to the historically important villages
of Bram, Montreal & Fanjeaux, centres of religious conflict in
the Middle Ages, now peaceful places where it is a pleasure to explore,
do the shopping and dine (and of course, taste the wine). The walled
city of Carcassonne is just 20 minutes drive, Toulouse 50 minutes, and
the sea about an hour. Both Carcassonne & Toulouse have
airports, and the rail-station of Bram is j,ust 2 miles. The Canal ,du
Midi is nearby, and beyond that the Montagne Noire. There is much to
see & explore, whether walking or driving, cycling or
sailing....

The large pool (13 x 7.5
metres) has terraces all around with open views but is not overlooked
and the pool is not shared with other users. The house has large
patio-windows which open immediately on, to a terrace equipped for
relaxing, sun-bathing & dining, and leads directly in to the
pool ........so children in the pool can be supervised easily from the
house or the terrace. There is an attractive barbecue area -- shaded
& well-equipped -- to one side, plus an external shower and
w.c. There is level access to house, terraces & pool for
disabled persons. |

The cottage has two large
bedrooms, one double, one with two singles. The large living-room has a
full-size sofa-bed, so the house can sleep up to six people. At one
end of this spacious open-plan area is a fine fireplace &
chimney, at the other a well-equipped kitchen (including dish-washer,
washing-machine, fridge & freezer, cooker, micro-wave,
coffee-maker etc).There is a good-sized bathroom with shower,
hand-basin & W.C.
Although on ancient foundations, everything
inside the house is modern -- it was fitted out in the Spring of 2006.
And it was done with attention to detail -- for e'xample with access
for the disabled in mind ; all doors will accept wheelchairs. There is
even a food-processor & a hair-dryer, as well as T.V., video
& music-stereo, comfortable furniture in traditional
style.............All bedding is provided, with indoor towels, and all
services are included in the rent.

When we have agreed availability we will ask you to
send us an ordinary British bank cheque (or agreed alternative) for
one-quarter of the total rent; on receipt of that we write to confirm
the reservation with advice on further payment (We simply ask you to
send another cheque for the rest 2 months before the holiday).
The rents quoted here include all services, bedding, house towels and
fuel.
