" Rampart Cottage”

is a traditional town terrace house is in the same quarter as Square Tower Cottage (STC)--- just 100 yards along the street – at the foot of the city walls of old Carcassonne ; from the house a pedestrian-only lane winds up into the city in a two-minutes’ walk . In the other direction, also within a couple of minutes there is a riverside walk and open parkland. One can walk into the modern city centre in ten minutes by crossing the river or the medieval bridge. The airport is less than 10 minutes by taxi (or bus to city-centre) .

Inside all the fittings are new and of good quality. A dark closed-up little house has become luminous and airy. The accommodation, ideal for two to four people, possible for 5/6, includes /- -

Ground floor ---- large open plan kitchen-cum living-room. There is an electric oven, four-burner ceramic plaque , micro-wave, fridge freezer and dish-washer. A wood-burning stove here, and electric radiators elsewhere, provides heating when needed in the winter. TV, DVD & CD-player.

First floor --- Double bedroom at front plus an open plan-space at rear with Futon couch which can be used as a sitting area or third bedroom (formerly it was a small bedroom, now opened up for more light ). Here there is a bathroom with bath, shower, basin & W.C

Second floor ---Second bedroom, attic style (a low beam in part) with two single beds.

Outside --- across the lane (three metres) is a garage (used for stocking things rather than car) with the washing machine Steps lead up to a very attractive balcony/terrace and small garden area, equipped for outdoor-dining & relaxing , and barbecue area. (Access to the terrace, by fairly steep steps, may not be suitable for some elderly or infirm people).

The ramparts can be seen from the balcony. Car-parking at the side of the streets is usually available without going more than 100 m from the house (the immediate street is pedestrian-only with car-access when needed).

Prices range from 420 euros to 690 per week (mid-july to end august) fully inclusive – these can be paid in sterling if you wish, at going rate. Some reductions are possible for weekends (normally about two-thirds of a week) . Normal letting weeks are sats to sats with some exceptions possible (ask us !).

When we have agreed availability we will ask you to send us an ordinary British bank cheque (or agreed alternative) for one-quarter of the total rent; on receipt of that we write to confirm the reservation with advice on further payment (We simply ask you to send another cheque for the rest 2 months before the holiday).
The rents quoted here include all services, bedding, house towels and fuel.
