A five-bedroomed farmhouse for 12 in 40 acres of natural beauty, with heated pool, pet animals,and a valley to explore.
St. Henry stands on the slopes of a valley, high above the fortified
village of Laurac, once a centre of Cathar resistance to the crusades
in the violent Middle Ages ; now the only sign of menace is the
occasional bird of prey wheeling above this peaceful place. The house
stands on its own, down its own lane, its forty acres merging with
moors and common land -- it is as if the house has the whole valley to
itself. You can roam wherever you like in the valley and on the moors,
enjoying the wild-life and views in all directions. unless you wish to
spend all day in or around the pool! Despite the rural calm, it is only
ten minutes to the nearest supermarket and there are plenty of shops,
cafes and restaurants in nearby towns and villages.

| St.Henry
is no longer a working-farm; we keep animals for our (and your)
pleasure. We have a few sheep, two donkeys and a horse (which children
may occasionally ride, accompanied); cats and dogs to cuddle; rabbits,
hens, ducks and pigeons to feed (including sometimes pet-lambs to
bottle-feed). We the owners (Dominique & Tom) live in the converted
bergerie -- sheep-barn -- attached to the farmhouse: each dwelling has
its own verandah for dining outdoors, not overlooked by the other. You
would share the pool and gardens with us, but in practice you would
have these to yourselves much of the time --- and there is a lot of
space in which to be on ones' own. |

THE HOUSE
Ground floor : patio,
entrance hall, dining and kitchen area (fridge/freezer , gas cooker;
micro-wave, dish-washer, coffee-maker etc) downstairs bathroom (shower,
h/basin, w;c;) ; sitting-room with double-doors opening to verandah,
open-fire, tv, video, stereo, phone.
First floor :
double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (bath, shower, w;c; h/basin);
double bedroom ; two bedrooms each with 2 single beds ; bathroom
(shower, h/basin, w.c).
second floor : Attractive huge attic-bedroom with four single-beds. Two cot-beds & high-chair are available.
Outside :
lawns, lots of trees for shade, and terraces surrounding pool which is
6m x 12m plus paddling-pool (total 80 sq;m). Washing-machine in barn. |
| The
pool is solar-heated, specially-insulated, making swimming comfortable
until end October, has chlorine-free .ultra-violet filtration system
and underwater lighting. The garden has sun-loungers, tables, chairs,
barbecues and table-tennis table and paths which lead off down the
valley and on to the moors. |

When we
have agreed availability we will ask you to send us an ordinary
British bank cheque (or agreed alternative) for one-quarter
of the total rent; on receipt of that we write to confirm the
reservation with advice on further payment
(We simply ask
you to send another cheque for the rest 2 months before the
holiday).
The rents quoted here include all services, bedding, house towels
and fuel.
